2 extremes

on one extreme... he is someone who plans ahead, sets his focus, and uses his time well. deviations from the plan are at best, a nuisance and at worst, an irritation. aims far in life, and goes far in life. life might not completely revolve around work, but it certainly does revolve around meaning. the kind of person who is wary of every cent he spends.

on the other extreme... he is someone living for the moment. indulgence comes in the form of spontaneity, and he lives life as it comes. commitments are seen as shackles and focus in life is traded for being a free spirit. money's free and easy... it comes, it goes - in the forms of lending and borrowing.

2 such extremes... and i've only cited a few instances. and yet we all play poker and mahjong together. lolz bonded by the gambling spirit. both use expletives freely (lolz altho the feel is much different). both are admirable in their ideals. both are interesting and insightful, with a depth of thought that is always engaging.

2 such different groups of friends. i'm lucky to get to know such a wide range of people... most people only understand a single point of view but i've experienced both extremes. and from it, i've learnt acceptance and understanding... but the insight also prevents me from fully belonging to any one side. but i guess i won't have it any other way. no matter how much i wanna fit and conform fully to a social setting, i won't trade these realizations for it. so be it then.
